[Tech Tuesdays]: 9 smartphone Apps which every woman can benefit from.

Written by Chaitra on

Many of us are guilty of wasting time on smartphones and apps, instead of utilizing those hours on work, or spending time with family and friends. But what if I told you there are still some apps out there which will benefit you. These apps are aimed to make your life easier by simplifying the things that are important to you.

1. Flo Period Tracker

No more crossing your fingers and hoping your colleague has a sanitary napkin when your periods unexpectedly start at work. Flo helps users track their menstrual cycles, along with their fertility, symptoms, ovulation, etc. Personally, I love the easy interface and the "Insights" forum where users can come together to clarify doubts and discuss topics that are of interest to them.

Download Flo on Google Play Store and iTunes.

2. Cleanfox

Are you frustrated with your overflowing inbox or pesky email lists that you just can't seem to unsubscribe from? Cleanfox allows you to delete and unsubscribe with just one click. Within minutes, you will be able to clear your inbox and regain control of your email. It's a life-changing app for those who rely on their email for everything.

Download Cleanfox on Google Play Store and iTunes.

3. Sleep Cycle

This app is a must-have for all those ladies who love their sleep. Using your phone's microphone / accelerometer to detect your body movements, the app determines when you are in the lightest sleep state to wake you up at your desired time. The best part? It comes with a snooze function too!

Download Sleep Cycle on Google Play Store and iTunes.

4. RescueTime

If you tend to waste your time on unproductive activities or websites online, RescueTime has the solution for you. The premium version* is priced at a nominal USD 72 / year (try the 14-day free trial) and offers additional functions that can allow you to block certain websites, notifications on achieving daily goals, etc. while the lite version* provides weekly usage reports as well as an online tracker. Unfortunately for Apple users, the app is not available on iTunes as of June 2018.

5. TimeTune

Android users who are trying to optimize their schedules will benefit from downloading TimeTune onto their phones. This allows users to create routines and add activities to subsequently analyze and improve how one spends time. Over time it will help you develop a routine that allows you to make the most of your day. iOS users can download a similar iOS-only app called Timeful for scheduling their day.

Download TimeTune on Google Play Store and Timeful on iTunes.

6. Contactually

I used to hate networking until I downloaded this app. Though this is a CRM tool for sales people, brokers, etc. I find that everybody can benefit from this app. It allows one to sync all your contacts in one place and categorize them on the basis of how often you want to engage them, and sends you reminders to follow up with them. Try out a free two-week trial before selecting one of their three paid plans to continue using the app.

Download Contactually on Google Play Store and iTunes.

7. Pocket

If you constantly find yourself losing track of the articles or videos you intended to read/watch later in your spare time, Pocket allows you bookmark it in one place to revisit it later. It works well on most browsers and even on apps such as Twitter, Flipboard, etc. Besides being available to Android & iOS users, the app is also compatible with Kindle, Windows and Blackberry devices.

Download Pocket on Google Play Store and iTunes.

8. Walnut

Don't let your hard-earned money go to waste. Try downloading Walnut to track expenses, settle bills, receive monthly reminders, check your bank balance and much more. The iOS compatible version however only allows users to settle bills and transfer money and does not allow for expense tracking.

Download Pocket on Google Play Store and iTunes.

9. 24/7 Emerg

The world is a dangerous place and a wise woman knows how to look after herself. Add the 24/7 Emerg app to your arsenal of weapons against the bad guys. It comes with a handy Panic button as well as a "Find My Way Back" feature which is useful when you have to find your car in a huge parking lot or return to a certain location when you are in an unfamiliar area.
